**[Podcast Title]**

ej’s voice cast [TK episode number 11 / episode title ]

**Introduction:**

Hello, ej here, and welcome to ej’s voice cast, the podcast that takes you on my journey of becoming a voice over artist.

**Opening Segment:**

[TK Hook or interesting fact related to the topic]

**Transition to Main Content:**

**Main Content:**

- [Segment 1: what’s been happening ]

Last time on ejs voice cast I completed my VO gym class with coach Grant. It was, as I said then, great. My other class for animation was with Austen Moret and it got canceled. I did get a one on one by paying the difference between the group rate and the single rate. I’m glad I did because I got some good pointers and I got to read some copy from Gravity Falls the TV show with some interesting characters.

**Transitions:**

- [Segment 2: what I got out of the class ]

- [TK Transition to personal story or example Phrase]

There was pre-posting of information about myself and what I was looking for in a class. I provided Austin with my information, why I wanted to get into VO animation, what I was looking to learn, where I was at in life, all those things coaches need to know in order to provide you with relevant and effective advice. He listened to some of my work, I gave him some far in the past, then the mid range and finally one I had just recorded that very morning before class. He heard the difference between my setup at the beginning, Garage Band, when I switched to Audacity and more recently when I started using more of my previous coaching suggestions. He felt my setup, mic, XLR and editing were fine but I was getting a lot of mouth noises. So back to eating apples as well as brushing teeth before audition time. As a matter of fact I’m eating slices now as I type this. I made sure I drank plenty of water during class to keep the noises down during practice reads.

- [Segment 3: Next class]

Speaking of reads, I mentioned that I read parts from Gravity Falls right? Well I read Grunkle Stans parts. Really enjoyed that. He listened to my voice and commented that it’s a good one. I’ve heard that before but I need to learn how to make it work for me. Projection is one of the key things I am to work on. That means getting loud at times and here in our place that can wake up my family and the neighbors. I’ll probably have to start setting up my “booth” again to do reads so there’s some muffling and sound isn’t going out the walls. I can probably test this with my phone in the other room while doing reads to see, hahaha, hear what the levels are like.

I can hear what’s going on outside because of the mic but that doesn’t mean everyone can hear me. However I can hear my daughter singing in her room with her door closed and mine open so there’s that.

- [Segment 4:  ]

Earlier I mentioned mouth noises and lack of booking.  Mouth noises that may be why I’m not booking because of all that. That’s not something I don’t get feedback on after an audition posting but I will  hear from a coach. So he offered and mentioned that my other coaches would probably support me sending the occasional, once or twice a month, samples of my auditions to see what needs correcting. I’ll have to take him and others up on this. I can set up a plan to do it more often which will come at a cost but we shall see.

-[Segment 5: costs]

Speaking of funding Austin suggested I expand my reach and use other platforms. He also directed me to revisit my tagging on Voices and do a better job. I set up a Fiverr account and started learning how to be a freelancer in that world. Lots of work there and they have a pretty good welcome aboard segment to teach you how to succeed on the site. Other pieces of information create a demo. It doesn’t have to be expensive or done from a studio but even though I haven’t booked having a demo of your work on the site for potential customers, at least on voices, helps with voice matching. Before I set up the demo I was in the 40% match and now I think I’m in the low 80%but that’s only this week so I’ll have to see what happens going forward.

-[Segment 6: Fiverr]

So as I said I set up a Fiverr account. That was pretty straight forward and not difficult. I made a mistake out of habit and listed myself as being in the US which I’m physically not. I got that changed and I finished up the description of what I have to offer. On Wednesday of this week, the last full week of April 2024, it went live when I hit the publish button. Yesterday I got in and did some more work after finally getting some time to watch the training videos. Still work to do on nailing how I want to price, what I want to offer and how to relay that to customers. I don’t want to take on too much work and get swamped where I can’t deliver but I don’t want dribbles of work either.

**Personal Story or Example:**

- [TK Share a personal story or example]

**Expert Insight or Quote:**

- [TK Include an expert insight or quote Share wisdom or perspective from an expert in the field.]

**Transition to Conclusion:**

That about finishes this episode. There was a lot that has happened over the last few weeks. Seems longer since I last posted. Hopefully that will change with the changes I have made in the last week.

- [Summary of Key Points]

[TK Summarize the main takeaways from the episode.]

So things for me to work on, 1. More projection, 2. Get rid of mouth noises, 3. Improve my online views so folks will see me and use my services. 4. Get more coaching

- [Closing Words]
