**Opening Segment:**

[TK Hook or interesting fact related to the topic]

**Transition to Main Content:**

**Main Content:**

- [Segment 1: New Gear]

I was working with my coach, Aurelia, and brought up that I have this background sound that’s constantly appearing in my recorded tracks. It’s annoying to hear this after working hard to treat this room. So she, like everyone else I mentioned this to, said that they hadn’t heard of the brand mic I’m using Elgato DX with Elgato Wave XLR. It’s very intro mic and extremely low cost. I think it’s selling around $100.00 US on Amazon. So she dropped two options: the Rode NT1a and the Sennheiser Mk4. The Rode NT1a comes with an external pop filter and external shock mount vice the DX’s built in pop filter and shock mount. Took me a bit to get it mounted like I wanted but got there. The isolation shield I have wouldn’t fit the way I wanted it to so I purchased a low cost foam one that should work. I’ll have to sell or give away the other one. It’s pretty large and heavy and kept draggin the boom arm down.

- [Segment 2:Audacity reconfiguration]

I connected the new mic and I tested it out straight away. It’s going to take some time to get the settings right but I think, one day later, that I’m close to getting it right. I watched a couple of videos that helped me make some changes to mic  gain, mic inputs etc… Had a few hiccups along the way but that’s to be expected. The other part of Audacity configuration is that version 3.6.0 came out. I waited until I finished my last podcast posts and auditions and then installed it. It worked great and no problems.. Until I installed the patch that followed a few days later 3.6.1. That broke my audacity so I wound up removing it and going back to 3.5.1 as 3.6.0 probably has the patch embedded in all new updates. No information on Audacity pages talking about this or a timeline on when it gets fixed. Always make sure you have no projects due for a bit before applying application upgrades, patches and the same for your computer. Don’t upgrade your Mac or Windows box without checking the forums to see what issues people have had or that you have enough time between gigs so you can restore from backups.

- [Segment 3: courses]

So having added a new mic and played around with the Audacity settings and versions I had class this morning called The Brush up. This was a group coaching session. We got to read scripts that we picked and a couple that Aurelia picked. We provided self feedback on our reads and could post in the chat feedback for others on the call. Very good feedback on each of our reads from Aurelia.

The next course is the Voice on Demand VO Intensive 2024 to occur on sept 8th. I think I signed up for it already but need to double check and see if what I want is available online. There are some physical classes that I can’t attend since I’m here in JP and not in the states. That doesn’t mean I can’t learn something. That will be starting at night for me. Hopefully I don’t fall asleep during the event.

[Segment 4: podmatch things ]

I completed a section of that podmatch feedback pdf and started another one. Good information but need to act on that. Still haven’t created an account since I’m not planning on doing interviews.

I do plan to follow the items laid out and this week my task is to begin figuring out how to create a sustainable task list that breaks up my days during the week so I can complete individual goals like create a topic for a podcast episode, post some gaming content, post some MC content and get some Japanese Language study time.
