ej's voice over journey
My journey into the world art of Voice Over. I've begun learning how to use my voice to entertain and inform listeners. Since I just started I might as well use my voice to inform others of my path. Who knows, what I have to say may help someone else interested in this art avoid mistakes and have a smoother entry.

Segment 1:[ Got selected for another role ]
I just got selected to audition for another role this time on backstage.com and it pays!!!.
I have a zoom directed session tomorrow that is scheduled for about 1.5 hours. I’ve got to do the main character plus a couple of other characters and make sure their voices are different. I’m going with my southern accent for one of the other 2 characters and the third character I haven’t decided yet but working on some ideas. Maybe a more gravely deep voice for that one. I’ll drop a bonus episode when I finish letting you know what happened.
Segment 2: [Transition time ]
Well as I’ve spoken of before I have been looking at retiring from the world of IT. That day is here and in the next 6 to 8 weeks I’ll be retiring as the contract isn’t getting renewed. I’ve already started working on my retirement daily calendar so I can get all the daily stuff that I want to do. Auditions in the early..ish morning, the gym mid morning and Japanese study in the afternoon. I’ve got to put some gaming time in and vlogging time in on the MC. I do plan to vlog my trips to and from the gym on my bicycle so I may be able to multitask this podcast as it’s about a 45 minute bike ride. I think it will take me some time to get the schedule down and the process but hopefully I’ll burn off 10kg in the first month.
Segment 3: [ Learning how to manage my time]
So now that I’ll be self employed so to speak I need to learn how to manage my time, as I mentioned in the previous section. Lots of things I want to do but can’t do them all at once so I need to schedule these tasks with enough time to do them. This podcast is posting twice a month so it doesn’t take up that much as I can write it through the course of 13 days and record both versions in 30 to 45 minutes and post. I just need to keep good notes on what I want to say. Auditions can take a lot of time to go through now that I have 3 platforms to pull from, Casting Call Club, Backstage and Voices. I must say I’m getting more opportunities and positive results from CCC and Backstage than anything from Voices.com. I will say that Voices has a better way to triage roles but to me it’s a different type of site than the other 2. I won’t be dropping Voices but I’ll be doing less auditioning there as long as the other 2 are working out.
