Thanks for using fan mail. Your input is appreciated
This version is different from the others. Rather than duplicating each podcast I'm combining the languages. I'm doing this line by line right now but that could change based on feedback or based on how I feel the flow of the podcast is going. Please take a listen and provide feedback. Not sure if people are just not providing feedback or if the system is not working. My tests work but maybe it's because no one is listening?

This podcast can serve different purposes.
- It gives me practice using my voice
Jibun no koe o tsukau renshū ni narimasu.
- It gives me a chance to reach many others with my voice and become better.
- I can pass on my knowledge, and experience to others who may be interested
- I can learn from listeners what interests them about voice over
One example of what I have to pass on is taking care of your voice.
Watashi ga tsutaetai koto no ichirei to shite, minasan no koe o donoyuou ni kea suruka nado desu.
Segment 2: [ koe no sewa]
Voice care is important for everyone.
Koe no kea wa, minasan ni totte jūyō desu.
If you have been in a place where you had to speak loudly, the next day you may lose your voice.
Moshi ookii koe de hanashimashita, tabun tsugi no hi wa koe ga denai desho.
If you use your voice to make a living like a radio host, lecturer, or auctioneer then you probably know ways to make sure your voice is good for the next day.
Moshi anata no shigoto ga koe o tsukaushigoto, tatoeba Rajio Host, kyoobai nin, nara tsugi no hi no tame ni koe no kea no shikata o shitteru. Desho
Warm up drills like lip trills, and breathing exercises are used to get you ready for your task. Here’s a link on how to do some, https://youtu.be/9u3fw1-IqcY?si=XF7F19Z947_jiYR9.
Rippu toriru ya kokyū undō nado no wōmu appu doriru wa, shigoto no tame ni junbi suru no ni yakudachimasu. Koko ni, sore no yarikata o shōkai shite iru rinku ga arimasu." https://youtu.be/9u3fw1-IqcY?si=XF7F19Z947_jiYR9.
Segment 3: [ Speaking of health ]
Speaking of health I caught a cold this week and that has taken me out of the audition game for several days.
Senshuu watashi wa kaze o hikimashita. Audishon no genba kara nanshukanka hazurete imashita.
Stuffy nose, scratchy throat, losing your voice keeps you from auditioning. You can’t prevent all colds but reducing your exposure to possible cold viruses is the way to go.
Hana ga tsumatte, nodo ga itakute, koe ga denakunaru to, audishon ni derarenakunaru koto mo arimasu. Subete no kaze o fusegu koto wa dekinai kedo, kanōsei no aru kaze no uirusu ni fureru kikai o herasu koto ga taisetsu desu.
Segment 4: [ My voice came back/Watashi no koe kaerimashita]
This week my voice came back. Thanks to the steps I took in order to take care of my voice I can now audition with confidence.
Konshu no watashi no koe kaerimashita.
I gargled with warm water and mouthwash, did my warm up drills and made sure not to overuse my voice.
Watashi wa nurui mizu to mausu wasshude ugai oshite, wōmu appu doriru o shite, narubeku koe o tsukawa nai youni simasu .
I have done a lot of auditions this week with no problems. I also fixed a technical issue that was distorting my audition tracks.
Konshu wa ooku no odishun o shimashita ga, mondai arimasen deshita. Odishun no traku o yugamas
Oodeishon no torakku o yugamaseteta gijyutsu tekina mondaimo shuusei shimasita
Segment 5: [Fixing my tech/watashi no gijyutsu tekina mondai wo naosu]
I had an issue recording tracks and then uploading them to auditions and the uploaded version had a distortion. I fixed it by changing the bit rate from 32kbps to 192kbps. I don’t remember why I was using 32kbps but it is fixed now and the MP3 version of my recordings sound better.
Watashi no ryokuon odishun ni yugami ga arimashita. Yugami ga 192kbps wa 32kbps yori ii desu. Sore de watashi wa sore o kaemashita. Ima wa watashi no koe wa yokunarimashita. MP3 deno ryokuon ga yokunarimashita.
Now I am testing a new Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) software called Reaper. Many people really enjoy working with this software. I use Audacity and Hindenburg Pro right now. Both are good, Audacity is free and Hindenburg Pro is very low cost.
Ima atarashii software o tesuto shiteimasu. Namae wa Reaper desu. Takusan no hito wa suki desu. Watashi wa Audacity to Hindenburg Pro tsakatte imasu. Ryoho ii desu, demo Audacity wa muryo de Hindenburg wa totemo yasui desu.
Hindenburg is mostly used by journalists who record on assignment so it has many automated features to assist in normalizing your audio. I do not use those features in my recording because clients usually prefer raw recordings with no processing.
Hindenburg Pro wa yoku shuzai chu no jānaristo ni yotte shiyō saremasu. Sore ni wa, ōku no jidō kinō ga fukuma reteite, ōdio o normaraizu suru no o tasukete kuremasu. Watashi wa jido kino o tsukaimasen. Kuraianto wa daitai arinomama no ōdio fairu o konomimasu.
As a practice when recording for clients try to use as little effect processing as possible so that their engineers can apply what they require for their use.
Kuraianto ni okuru rokuga no tame ni wa, kanō na kagiri efekuto shori wa sukuname ni shi, sono ato no henshū wa kuraianto gawa no enjiniya ni makaseta hō ga ii desu.
I have had one issue with Reaper and that’s because I’m using it on a Mac instead of Windows. I had to go into the Privacy & Security section and give permission to the software to access the microphones on the Mac. After allowing that I had to restart the Mac and everything was fine after that.
Reaper o tsukatte ite hitotsu dake mondai ga arimashita. Sore wa, Windows de wa naku Mac de shiyō shite iru kara desu. Mac no 'Privacy & Security' no sekushon ni itte, sofutouea ni maiku e no akusesu kyoka o ataeru hitsuyō ga arimashita. Sore o kyoka shita ato, Mac o saikidō suru hitsuyō ga arimashita. Sono ato wa subete mondai naku ugokimashita.
Segment 6:[Speaking of problems/ Mondai wa hanashimasu ]
I found 2 auditions, one for an audiobook and the other for a youtube channel. The audiobook client asked for more test reads from me.
Watashi wa futatsu no odishon o mitsukemashita. Hitotsu wa audiobook de,
moo hitotsu wa YouTube desu.
Audio book no kuraianto ni hokano tesutomo suruyooni iwaremashita
I re-read the job specifications and found they wanted to pay $260.00 for reading 43,471 words.
Moo ikkai kyuujin jyoohoo o yondemitara 43471 kotobani shiharai wa 260doru deshita
Shiyo-sho 43,471 kotoba. Shiharai wa $260.00 desu.
I asked if this was just for the forward or something and they said for the entire book.
Nanode kuraiantoni kiite mimashita. Kore wa zen-tai no hon no tame desu ka? Soretomo ichibu dake desu ka? Kurianto wa zenbu da to iimashita. Mochiron, Sono shigoto wa kotowarimashita.
There are rates for this type of work and they are based on Per Finished Hour of work. I did the calculation and based it on $200.00 per finished hour of work and the price was over $3000.00 and the time to do the work was over 80 hours of reading. I turned this down.
The youtube job wants someone to read 2000 to 4000 words per month for youtube videos and pay a flat rate of $20.00 to $40.00 a month reading up to 6 of these scripts each month. I turned this one down also.
YouTube no shigoto wa, maitsuki 2000 kara 4000 no kotoba o yonde hoshii to omotteite, muttsu made no sukuriputo o yomu koto de, flat rate de $20 kara $40 made no shiharai desu. Watashi wa kore mo kotowarimashita.
As a VO artist you must know your worth and be careful. Some people will take advantage of you if they can and some of these posts are scams. The scammer will try to convince you to pay them a few so you can get paid or pull a switch by paying you too much and asking for the “change” and then get your banking information.
VO āchisuto to shite, jibun no kachi o shitte, ki o tsukete kudasai.
