I have made some recent changes to the podcast. I've combined the two into one so you will now here the podcast in both English and Japanese. After a few trials I have now decided to do this paragraph by paragraph. You will get one paragraph in English and the next in Japanese.

This is a new podcast recorded with Reaper vice Hindenburg. Hopefully it's at least as good. Reaper is power tool but I'm still learning how to properly use this new tool. This episode covers things you do as a VA that don't revolve around speaking, Practice of your craft, how often to audition, increasing my skill set, call backs and my new and first audiobook gig.
Sukuna kunakutemo onaji kurai yoi to ii na to omotteimasu. Reaper wa pawāfuru na tsūru desu ga, mada tsukai kata o manande iru tokoro desu.

Segment 1:[ Things in VO where you don’t use your voice/VO de koe o tsukawanai koto ]
Hello everyone, well in every job there are things you do that may not have anything to do with the actual work. Cleaning your desk, putting paper in the copy machine and advertising your business.
Mina san, konnichiwa.
Tsukue o souji shitari, copiki ni kami o iretari, jibun no bijinesu o koukoku shitari suru koto mo arimmasu.
Yes, you will have to advertise yourself so you can get clients. This is beyond auditioning on P2P sites. This is getting clients that don’t use P2P sites and are looking for voice actors.
Pay to Play saito wa daijoubu desuga, teiki no kurainto no hou ga ii desu
With clients you expand your ability to find work and open up your networking abilities to keep getting more work. These clients you get may also have clients that they can network you with.
Segment 2: [ Practice Practice Practice / Rynshu Rynshu Rynshu ]
The best way to get better is making practice a habit. Do your warmup drills, audition regularly and keep up with VO forums across all 3 mediums, Print, Podcast and Video. You can throw practice in, as one poster put it, by reading Reddit posts out loud in a character's voice.
Segment 3: [ How often should I audition?/yoku odishon o shita hogaii desu ka ]
Like anything else, auditioning a lot can become tiring. You do need to pace yourself and take breaks. If you don’t you will burn out. You may feel you are getting behind but you need to treat this like a marathon and not rush yourself. Pick a time that allows you to spend time on your craft. Set a calendar reminder once you pick a time you like but leave room to adapt should things change.
Yoku odishon surukoto wa taihen desu. yoku teekiteki ni yasumi o totta hoga ii desu. Moshi teekiteki ni shinai to, tsukare kirimasu.
Anata wa Okurete iru to kanjiru kamoshirenai kedo, kore wa marason no you ni kangaete, isoganai you ni shinakereba narimasen. Jibun no shigoto ni jikan o tsuiyasu koto ga dekiru jikan o erande kudasai. Suki na jikan o eranda ato, karendā no rimaindaa o setto shite kudasai. Demo, nanika henka shitara, jūbun ni taiō dekiru yō ni space o nokoshite okimashou.
Segment 4: [ Increasing my knowledge/watashi no Chishiki o fuyasu ]
I decided to take an improv or improvisation course. I did some reading and found that improv is a good way to grow as a Voice Over artist. I am sure that it will take more than one 6 week course to learn but I have to start somewhere. Increasing my knowledge can bring more auditions and callbacks.
Watashi wa sugu imupurabu kurasu o hajimerukoto o kimemashita. Impro ga voice over no tame no chishiki o fuyasu koto ga dekiru to yomimashita. Impro o manabu no ni wa roku-shukan ijo kakarimasu. Demo, doko ka de hajime nakereba narimasen. Watashi no chishiki o fuyasu o odishon to callbacks mo motto fuemasu.
Segment 5: [I got a callback / callback moraimashita ]
I was surprised to hear back from an independent gaming production group named, Not Half Bad Games. They wanted to hear me read for the part I auditioned for online. At midnight I attended a Directed Session online and did read the part. I won’t know for a while if I’m picked.
Not half bad games to iu geemu kaishakara rennraku ga kite bikkuri shimashita.
You may be thinking that I only succeed if I get the role but not everyone in this business thinks that way. If I audition for a role and the client shortlists me that’s a win. If I audition for a role and the client offers me a chance to audition in a directed session that’s an even bigger win.
Moshi rooru o moraeta kotode seikoo shite iruto omotte irunonara
Kono bijinesu zeiin ga soo omotte iruwakedewa arimasen . Moshi shōtorisuto ni haitte, callback o morattara, seikoo shite imasu.
watashi ga role no odishon o ukete, client ga watashi o shōtorisuto shita nara, sore wa kachi ga arimasu Moshi watashi ga role no odishon o ukete, client ga watashi ni chokusetsu session no odishon suru kikai o ataetara, sore wa motto ookii kachi ga arimasu.
Some people consider auditioning for the role is the job and the payoff is getting the role. Also, to me, this means I learned correctly and I’m applying what I learned correctly and it is working.
Segment 6: [I got my first gig/Shigoto ga hajimarimashita]
The other day I received another invite to do an audiobook. On first read I planned to turn it down due to the pay scale. This was a flat fee that didn’t work out. After some more research and conversation with the company things are better. One of the sticking points for me is if I have to do the read plus all the editing beyond cleaning up my own mistakes. In this case all I have to do is get the pacing right, clean up my errors and send them the raw wav files. So I accepted the position and I have 8 weeks to complete 14 chapters. I still think the pay is a bit low but if I do a good job there could be more work coming my way from this company.
Konshu wa audiobook no rokuon ga hajimarimashita. Yoken wa suki janakkatan desu kedo, kurain to hanshimashita. Takusan shigoto ga arimasu tatoeba, Nōizu sapurēshon o settei to ka Nōmaru o settei toka Onryō o settei toka nado wa yaritakunaidesu. Watashi ga yaranakya ikenai koto wa watashi no kotoba no machigai o choosei suru koto dake desu. nanode, shigoto o uketanode, senshū kara isogashiku narimashita. Mada chotto chingin ga hikui to omoimasu ga, yoi shigoto o sureba kono kaisha kara motto shigoto ga kuru kamoshiremasen.
That’s all for now, I’ll keep you all updated on my progress.
Ima no tokoro wa sore dake desu. Jōhō ga aru toki ni mata renraku shimasu.
