Segment 1:[ interesting / omoshiroi ]
So today's news. My wife is also doing voice over and she got an audition today. She was auditioning for 2 hours. I set up an account on my mac for her to use but she used her own laptop. Had I known that I would have set that up yesterday so she could use my gear. I’ll have to set it up later so all she needs to do is plugin and go. Her audition was for a recitation style read. She would be one of many characters. It sounded like fun but she has no idea how she did.
Kyo nyusuu wa, okusan ga seiyuu mo imasu. Kyo wa audition onrain arimashita. Nijikan de shimasu. Watashi no mac de accounto o tsukirimashita. Demo okusan no laptop o tsukirimasu. Ato de mac no account o setup shimasu. Odishion ga recitation desu. Iroiro character imasu. Okusan wa ichi character imasu. Tanoshi shimashita. Okusan wa odishion o wakaranai moratteimasu.
Segment 2: [ creating characters / character o sousakusuru ]
I have been creating some characters. I’ll use these for demos on my website and also for some auditions depending on the requirements of the read. I based one character after a mash up of two actors, Sam Elliot and Woody Strode. They have different styles of speech, Sam Elliot is measured, slow and meticulous in his deliveries. Woody Strode is medium pace. Due to the time that Woody Strode was acting he was confined to certain roles but. At least one director, John Ford, who was famous for westerns at this time, saw potential and apparently nurtured Woody Strode and gave those parts he played some depth and meaning. I’m not trying to do an impersonation of their voice but an approximation of their styles.
Watashi no kyarakuta o sousakusuru. Kono kyarakuta ga demo to odishion to uebusite ni tsukurimasu. Futatsu no kyarakuta o tsukatte hitotsu o tsukurimashita. Futatsu no kyarakuta ga Sam Elliote to Woody Strode. Karera wa hanashikata ga chigaimasu. Samu Eriotto no hanashikata wa hakakarare, yukkuri de, saishin desu. Udi Sutorōdo wa chūkurai no pēsu desu. Udi Sutorōdo ga haiyū o shiteita jidai no tame, kare wa tokutei no yakugara ni gentei sarete imashita ga, Sukunakutomo hitori no kantoku, tōji uesutan ēiga de yūmei datta Jon Fōdo wa, Udi Sutorōdo no kanōsei o midashi, sainō o sodate, kare ga enjita yaku ni fukami to imi o ataemashita. Karera no koe no monomane dewa naku, sono sutairu no fun'iki o dasu koto o mezashite imasu.
Segment 3: [ How to create characters / Kyarakutā no tsukurikata wa? ]
To create the characters I used a template that asks questions about the character you are thinking about. Things like, name, age, height, weight, hair, physical build. Also what kind of person they are, angry, kind, funny, happy. It can go deep into the creation process because this is a person, an individual and everyone is different and your character should be different than you normally are. Otherwise every character is easily identified as you. To get people to believe you’re someone else you don’t need to always change your voice but your delivery, mannerisms and adopt a different personality.
Kyarakuta wa template ga tsukurimasu. Template no nijuni shitsumon node namae toka nansai toka, karada. Donna hito taipu, tanoshi toka, ikari toka, shiawase imasu. Kore ga hitori ga imasu,, demo anata wa kara chigau. Kore wa hito ga imasu, koe o kaeru ja nakute, kuse o kaerimasu. hanashikata no kuse jyuyo desu. Boku no iken dewa, Denzeru Washinton san to Anthony Hopkins no hō ga Nikorasu Keiji san yori kono sukiru ga sugurete imasu. Iken dewa taksun rynshu o shimasu.
Segment 4: [ New probable job / ]
I just heard from the one company I spoke of last week. They are postponing until next month when they work out some issues. I asked what company the job was for and they told me it’s called Like The Wind Magazine. I haven’t heard of it but then I’m not a runner.
shigoto o teikyō shite kureta kaisha ni tsuite hanashimashita.. Tabun juichigatsu ni hajimeru. Kaisha no namae shitsumon shimashita. Namae wa Like the wind magazine desu.
Segment 5:[ Getting direction / Michi o Kiku ]
So today’s class is putting me on the correct road. I was all over the place and not focusing on where I needed to put my energies. I need to create 2 or 3 scripts addressing topics for my demo. A tutorial, a travel piece and an in-show narration. In-show narration is considered difficult to create. I need to not be the host but talk about what’s going on in the show. This shall require a bit more research on my part. I’ve written a script for my documentary which was easy. I just did one on the historical track of one part of the Navy.
Konnichi no kurasu de tadashii michi ni modoremashita. Iroiro na tokoro ni ikisugite, enerugī o sosogu beki tokoro ni shūchū dekite imasen deshita. Demo-yō no tēma de futatsu ka mittsu, sukuriputo o tsukuru hitsuyō ga arimasu. Chūto riaru, toraberu pīsu, sorekara in-shō narēshon desu. In-shō narēshon wa tsukuru no ga muzukashī to sarete imasu.
Segment 6: [ ]
That’s all for now, I’ll keep you all updated on my progress.
